Barnsley players who have returned from loans away from the club might play in the remainder of the season – but not Mallik Wilks.

The Reds have been made aware of a rule change, meaning that players who were out on loan are available as long as the parent club can prove that they have no other senior players available.  That applies to Barnsley’s Toby Sibbick, George Miller, Jordan Green and Victor Adeboyejo.

Head coach Gerhard Struber told the Chronicle: “The loan players have the right quality to help us.  “We need every single player because my squad is very small.”

Asked if forward Wilks, who is on loan at relegation rivals Hull until June 30, could play for Barnsley, Struber said: “Mallik will stay longer at Hull. He is not a topic right now.”
