Barnsley are no longer trying to sign a free agent striker and will wait until January to add to their squad, Valerien Ismael has suggested.

Head coach Ismael and chief executive Dane Murphy had previously said they were hoping to bring in a forward after missing out on one at the end of the transfer window.

The Reds' top-scorer Cauley Woodrow has missed both games this week due to injury but could return tomorrow and play in the middle of a front three with Conor Chaplin and Dominik Frieser. The other options are Patrick Schmidt, George Miller and the fit-again Victor Adeboyejo.

Ismael said: “For the moment we are only looking to get our players back. Cauley Woodrow and Victor (Adeboyejo) are back. Both players are very important and could give us time until January. For the moment, we have to be calm and patient.

“I am happy, I can play with these players. But we know what we need to adapt more in the Championship.”
