A NURSERY has benefited from a £2,000 donation from retail giant Amazon.

Priory Family Centre, on Pontefract Road, Lundwood, is run by Barnardo’s and provides for looked-after children with particular behavioural needs who are aged two to five.

As part of the charity’s established relationship with Amazon, the centre has received £1,000 in cash and a further £1,000 in items to help it continue its services through the second lockdown.

The donations come from two local distribution centres at Balby Carr Bank and Water Vole Way, in Doncaster.

Steve Oversby, director for Barnardo’s North, said: “The impact of Covid-19 continues to be deeply felt by children in the Barnsley community and it’s fantastic to get this support once again from the Amazon team.

“The financial and product donations are hugely appreciated by everyone at Priory Family Centre Nursery and Barnardo’s and will enable us to continue offering services to the young people who need us most.”

Site leader at Balby Carr Bank, Gill Fedorov added: “The team at Amazon is passionate about supporting the young people in our community and we jumped at the chance to make this donation to Priory Family Centre Nursery.

“The work they do in partnership with Barnardo’s is needed now more than ever and they have our full support as they continue to have a positive impact on children across Barnsley.”
