POLICE are investigating after a man was hit by a car and then seriously assaulted.

The 33-year-old man was crossing Burman Road, Wath-upon-Dearne at around 5pm on November 26, when he was clipped by a blue Volkswagen Polo.

Two men then reportedly got out of the car and attacked the man, driving away when a passer-by intervened.

The victim was taken to Rotherham Hospital, where he has been treated for head and facial injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of the incident.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who captured a blue Volkswagen Polo on their dashcam or CCTV,” said a spokesperson.
