STAFF and customers at a Cudworth chippy have managed to raise more than £650 for Barnsley Foodbank Partnership.
Lakis Fish Bar raised a total of £670 for the charity through donations from customers after they launched their free kids lunch at half term.
A spokesperson for the restaurant said: “We decided at half term to feed all kids for free at lunch time between 12pm and 1.30pm every day.
“We then had people wanting to donate towards it which we felt was so lovely and heartfelt, however we didn’t feel right taking money for it so we decided to put it towards a local foodbank.
“It was our version of Children in Need - we kept it local.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
