A DRIVER had a miracle escape when his £200,000 new Ferrari crashed off the M1 and burst into flames near Dodworth.

The driver had only had the Ferrari 430 Scuderia for an hour when it was reduced to a twisted wreck after the smash near M1 junction 37 on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the car had gone 'airborne' in the wet conditions. Miraculously the driver walked away with just cuts and bruises.

The car went 50 metres down a bank into a field where it turned into a fireball.

South Yorkshire Police said: "Officers asked the driver what sort of car he 'had' to which he replied 'it was a Ferrari'.

"Detecting a sense of damaged pride he then said 'I've only just got it, picked it up an hour ago'."
