THE Barnsley Live team have announced the town centre festival’s charity partner will be Barnsley Hospital Charity.

Every year, the festival - which sees a full schedule of bands and artists at more than 20 of the town’s bars and venues - raises cash for a local cause.

And organisers’ well-established association with Barnsley Hospital Charity will continue with this year’s event, set to take place on October 23.

“Barnsley Hospital Charity operates to directly support the care and needs of Barnsley Hospital patients and their families, and after the previous 12 months of tireless work on their part, we were keen to help in any small way we possibly can,” said organiser Matt Smith.

Last year, alongside a video featuring performances from some acts, a CD featuring more than 20 musicians raised hundreds of pounds for the charity.

“Any sales we make contribute to the running costs of the festival, but there are two items, the ‘Barnsley Live Collective’ CD, and the related print, whose proceeds go directly to the charity,” added Matt.
