A LOCAL DJ has taken his fundraising exploits to the next level by raising more than £7,000 for Age UK Barnsley.

Shaun Tattersall, 51, also known to many as Shaun ‘Banger’ Scott, managed to raise £7,190 for the charity by hosting a non-stop 12-hour marathon online.

The public got involved by donating money so they could request tracks throughout the night which helped Shaun smash his target.

He chose the charity after they helped support his mum to sort out her benefit issues which had resulted from changes in her health.

He said: “I plan to carry on fundraising for them and would love to put on a live event when we can.

“It was great to do something during lockdown, so a big thanks to everyone for their support in making this happen.”

All the funds raised will go directly to the charity’s information and advice service - its manager, Bethan Hopkin, said she was amazed with Shaun’s support.

“We are so grateful to Shaun and everybody who supported the event and made a donation,” she said.

“Shaun’s efforts have been a real help this year as our charity shops have been closed for the majority of the year so that source of income has been drastically reduced.

“Since last August Shaun has raised over £8,500 for this service, which is fantastic.”
