BARNSLEY temporarily suspended season ticket sales this week but it is unrelated to the Covid-19 crisis.

The Reds announced that they would not be selling any more 2021/22 season tickets for the time being, prompting speculation that it was connected to rising levels of coronavirus.

But it was simply to export the details of the more than 11,000 season ticket holders so the tickets can be sent out – a process that happens every year.

Season tickets are expected to go back on sale in the near future.

Barnsley are hoping to have no restrictions on capacity when the season starts, after the government lifted all such rules from Monday. The first home game is on August 14 against Coventry.
