DEVANTE Cole ‘has to give us more’ to play regularly for Barnsley, says head coach Markus Schopp.

The 26-year-old striker signed a three-year contract in June, weeks before Valerien Ismael was replaced by Schopp.

He has made two substitute appearances in the Championship, and another in the EFL Cup, while he has also been left out of some matchday squads.

His last appearance was in the 2-2 draw at QPR on August 21.

Schopp told the Chronicle: “Especially up front we have a lot of competition. There are players with different qualities which we need in different games.

“Devante joins us in each training session and, when he played in pre-season or the Championship, he gave us something but he has to give us more.

“I expect that of all the players.”
