SIXTEEN Barnsley residents died within 28 days of a positive test in December - less than half of November’s figures.
A total of 961 people have died in Barnsley after a positive test since the start of the pandemic.
The numbers this month have dropped rapidly as 43 people died in November.
The town still has the highest death rate in the country with 390.6 per 100,000 residents.
