THERE are no patients at Barnsley Hospital on mechanical ventilation beds due to Covid-19 for the first time since June.

The number of residents requiring ventilation has not surpassed three so far in 2022 - and there’s no-one requiring the treatment.

Currently, there’s 36 in the hospital with the virus - bringing the total number of patients admitted since the start of the pandemic to 4,275.

Around 20,000 residents have been administered either their first, second or booster jab so far in 2022.

The majority are third jabs where almost 11,000 have had their vaccine - bringing the total up to more than 134,000 and more than 60 per cent of eligible residents.

Around 8,000 have had their second jab this year and more than 1,000 their first.
