Darfield taekwondo star Caroline Fisher took an important step towards selection for the London Olympics with gold at the Dutch Open.

The 28-year-old 10-time British Champion cruised through five matches on her way to victory in a very high field.

This was a vital victory as – with only two women set to be selected for the Great Britain team in the 2012 games – Fisher must prove she is likely to gain a medal in the Olympics in order to make the team.

She has had a tough few years after being controversially left out of the 2008 squad for Beijing then struggling with injuries throughout last year.

But Fisher is hoping for a good 2011 with another British Championships and the World Championships to come.
