BARNSLEY under 21s won 5-1 at Shelley in the Sheffield Senior Cup on Wednesday.
The hosts scored an own goal then Josiah Dyer and Callum West made it 3-0 at half-time.
Dyer and Emmaisa Nzondo put the Reds 5-0 up before the Northern Counties East League hosts pulled one back late on.
Barnsley are now in the quarter-finals – the only side from the town to reach the last eight after Silkstone United, Dearne and District and Wombwell Town were all knocked out this week.
The young Reds, who have entered the competition for the first time, had won on penalties at Athersley Rec in the previous round.
The under 21s are now due to return to league action and host Fleetwood on Tuesday from 2pm.
They are winless in their last four league games, having drawn the last three.
Barnsley under 18s’ game against Hull City was called off.
They are due to host Coventry on Saturday from 11am.
