Houghton Main replaced local rivals Shaw Lane Aquaforce at the top of the County Senior Premier League with a 2-1 home win over High Green Villa.
Aquaforce started the day one point clear at the top of the league but their derby at home to Penistone Church was called off due to bad weather so Houghton pulled two points clear on the same number of games as the Shaw Laners.
In the Northern Counties East League, Worsbrough Bridge Athletic onceded twice late on as they lost 3-1 at Clipstone Welfare. Bridge were losing at half-time but levelled through captain Lee Garside on 62 minutes. The hosts scored a late penalty then added another in stoppage time.
It was Worsbrough's last game before their Boxing Day derby against leaders Athersley Recreation whose game was called off on Saturday.
