SEXUALLY explicit film Fifty Shades of Grey will not be shown on release in Penistone because film company Universal Pictures insisted the Paramount put on matinee screenings - during the school holidays.

The erotic drama, based on the popular novel by E L James, is due for release on Valentine's Day, just before children break up for February half-term.

Paramount manager Brian Barnsley planned to show a children's film in the afternoon during the holiday week and then screen Fifty Shades in the evening.

But Universal refused to back down and the Paramount will now show the much-anticipated film, which stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, four weeks after its release.

Manager Brian said: "We couldn't show it at 2pm."
