BARNSLEY pole vaulter Luke Cutts is hoping the town gets behind him to help him realise his dream of competing at this year’s Olympics in Rio de Janiero.

Luke, 27, of Acorn Avenue, Thurnscoe, is the British record holder and a Commonwealth Games silver medalist.

But he is struggling to juggle his training commitments with his job.

He works at a packing factory in Goldthorpe to provide for his partner, two daughters and two stepsons. But it means he does not get paid when he takes time off to train.

His coach Trevor Fox, who has worked with Luke since he was ten, has set up a fundraising campaign to raise £10,000 to help support him when he takes time off work to train.
