MORE than 1,000 people marched through Barnsley town centre on Sunday to watch the unveiling of the Oaks Memorial.
The statue is the creation of local sculptor Graham Ibbeson and is the culmination
of 18 months of fundraising by the local community to raise £120,000.
It honours the 361 men and boys who lost their lives in the Oaks Colliery disaster of 1866.
