RESURFACING work to the road and footpath on the A61 Wakefield Road will start on Sunday.

It is part of a planned programme of general maintenance work to the borough's roads and will last for a week between Newstead Road and Bar Lane.

Access to properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the works and every effort will be made to keep any disruption to a minimum.

However, due to the very nature of the works some disruption of access may occur while work is carried out in the vicinity of properties.

Coun Roy Miller, cabinet spokesperson for development, environment and culture, said: "This work will improve the quality of the road and footpaths to these two areas, as part of our commitment to keep Barnsley's roads in good condition."
