THE world’s most extreme circus act will perform at a variety show which has been organised to raise vital cash for a new special care baby unit.

Circus Insane featuring international artist Doc Insane, will top the bill at the show on February 23, which is raising money for the Tiny Hearts Appeal.

His ‘tricks’ include a chainsaw in the face, suffocation, being a human dartboard and putting his face in broken glass.

Carl Barma, who has organised the event, said Doc Insane had auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent, and featured briefly at the end of an episode during the last series. But ITV deemed his act too extreme, and his audition was never aired.

Doc Insane has been banned from performing his acts on all UK terrestrial television channels and deemed too extreme to perform in venues across Britain, America, parts of Europe and the Middle East.

Carl, 28, of Honeywell Close, Honeywell, said the Tiny Hearts Appeal was close to his heart. Several years ago, Carl’s baby nephew died shortly after he was born.

He said: “My brother lost a baby, he had lots of problems and died shortly after birth. I thought this would be a good idea to help.

“It’s taken a while to get things going, I spent a lot of time messaging acts who suited the event, and I’m pleased with the line-up. It is something different for Barnsley, you don’t see too many variety nights happening anymore.”

Also on the bill, is comedian Max Wall, who regularly tours the UK, Grant Saunders, who has spent the past 15 years entertaining people and developing his brand of comedy stage hypnosis, and award-winning magician Paul Dawson.

Paul has performed across the UK and overseas, and combines misdirection, pick pocketing, sleight of hand and psychology within his tricks. He has trained in Las Vegas with world class master magician Jeff McBride and was a contestant on Britain's Got Talent.

There will be music from Scott Wainwright who has been a regular on his local music scene for the past ten years, offering audiences his take on blues, folk and gospel, and there will be an appearance from the award winning comedian Gina Jenkinson's hilarious alter ego Kelli! Taylor.

Carl said: “I’m really pleased with the line up, and I’m really looking forward to it. I hope to raise as much money as possible.”

The event will be held at the Old Picture House on Eastgate, on February 23.
