A WOMAN who lived to the outstanding age of 105 has died.

Ada Bailey died last Wednesday in Barnsley Hospital, four months after celebrating her 105th birthday.

On her birthday, Ada gave her advice for living a long life.

“You can have a drink, water or whatever you want, you can eat what you want, but in moderation,” Ada, of New Winterwell Road, West Melton, said at the time.

“The other thing is to keep smiling, and if you see someone without a smile, give them one.”

Ada was born the fifth of 13 siblings in Rotherham on July 30, 1913, to Rose Alice and William Francis Bailey.

Ada and her husband Reuben had a son, also called Reuben, who died last year, and she leaves a daughter-in-law, two grandsons, a granddaughter, seven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday at St Mary’s Parish Church, Wombwell, with a service by Rev John Armstrong, followed by cremation at Ardsley Crematorium. Arrangements by Wombwell Funeral Service 750053.
