NEW figures reveal almost £1m of National Lottery funding was awarded across Barnsley last year.
A total of 42 National Lottery grants worth more than £960,000 were given out in the town during 2016; providing a vital boost to arts, sports and heritage projects alongside community groups helping those most in need.
A wide variety of local projects received grants.
