AN AMATEUR actress who took her first acting steps aged five will return to the same stage in a similar production 50 years on.

Tina Green, who is originally from Thurgoland, will play the part of Lady Malfoy in Penistone Theatre Group's pantomime Robin Hood and Babes in the Wood at Penistone Paramount.

The 55-year-old enjoyed her first on-stage role half a century ago when she appeared as a chick in a production of Babes in the Wood, performed at the Shrewsbury Road venue by The Betty Chapelle Dance Centre.

Tina, who has mistakenly been credited as Tina Turner in the pantomime programme, said: "I've a few more lines this time. I think I only went 'cheap, cheap' in the first one.

"It's always good fun and there's always good comradeship behind the scenes so I just love being on stage, there's nothing like it."

Performances start at 7pm on Thursday, Friday and next Saturday and on February 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. There are also 2pm shows next Saturday and February 7 and a 5pm performance on February 1.
