Shaw Lane manager Craig Elliott has ambitions to manage in professional football but has no immediate desire to abandon the Ducks' adventure.

The 38-year-old primary school teacher from Pontefract has won 108 of his 154 league games while securing three promotions since taking over in 2014 and has never lost more than four in a season. The former Ossett Albion boss has never lost three successive matches in his entire managerial career and has just guided the Ducks to the FA Cup first round.

Owner Craig Wood said: "Craig Elliott is a fantastic manager and a massive reason for our continued success. He is surprising everyone in non-league football by how well he is doing with us and I am sure a lot of people will be taking notice. They would be foolish not to.

"I have expected to have an approach from other clubs for him but I have not had one yet. He will obviously get some attention with the FA Cup run. I wouldn't stand in his way if it was an opportunity he really wanted at a much higher level.

"But we certainly don't want to lose him. He is under contract and any club would have to pay for him. The same applies to our players who are all under contract as well.    We have scouts watching a lot of our games and there is a lot of attention on our squad."

Elliott has seen what Danny and Nicky Cowley have done with League Two Lincoln after being teachers and non-league managers. He said: "I would definitely like to be a Football League manager and my career is quite similar to the Cowley brothers. But I am genuinely happy at Shaw Lane and not looking to move on. As long as the club continues to progress and be ambitious, it is the right place for me to be. I get on very well with Craig Wood and we are very similar."
