AN ANGRY Reverend is refusing to pay a £90 parking ticket he got at Lidl and is now boycotting the store.

Ady Rugeruza, reverend at Jump Wesleyan Reform Church, was snapped by the automatic number plate cameras at Lidl's store in Peel Street, Barnsley.

A new system has been introduced at Lidl and Quality Save meaning customers now need to register their registration number inside the stores to prove they are customers.

Large signs say 'one hour free parking per store for customers only'. But the text underneath explaining that the registration number must be given at the tills is smaller and Ady says he did not see this.

Several people have called or written letters to the Chronicle complaining they have been caught out by the parking charges. But staff at the stores say the new system was only brought in only because the car park was getting very full due to people using it as a free car park for the town centre.
