ANIMAL lover Gemma Thickett has just donated the £200 she raised in a gruelling assault course to the Donkey Sanctuary.

Gemma, 22, completed the Tough Mudder Yorkshire challenge and then visited the Donkey Sanctuary in Leeds to drop off the money she raised and to have a cuddle with some of the donkeys she adores.

Gemma, from Jackson Street, Cudworth, got a special smile and lots of affection from Ripple the donkey.

The lead teaching assistant at Greenacre school admits the 10-mile epic challenge, which included a 9ft sheer wall and an "electric eel" crawl was the "hardest thing I have ever done".

Gemma only started running last year but has since run the Wakefield half marathon and next year will be running the London marathon- to raise more cash for donkeys.
