A PROLIFIC burglar who killed a Barnsley man when he caught him stealing his car has been told by top judges that he deserved every day of his 24-year minimum jail term.
David Sindall attacked Dean Armitage, 49, in the driveway of his home in Skiers View Road, Hoyland Common, after being confronted by the victim as he tried to drive off in his Range Rover last summer.
The 34-year-old, from Eastwood, Rotherham, had been out drinking in local pubs and told jurors at his trial that he had found the house door of the family home 'ajar'.
He crept into the kitchen and stole shopping and car keys, but was heard by Mr Armitage as he started the car.
Sindall was jailed for life and ordered to serve at least 24 years behind bars after being found guilty of murder at Sheffield Crown Court in February.
This week he challenged the sentence at London's Criminal Appeal Court, with his lawyers arguing it was simply 'too long'.
But his complaints were thrown out by three of the country's top judges, who said the sentence was not excessive.
