AN appeal has been made in a bid to find a Bible’s rightful owner before a Royston church closes its doors for good.

Betty Fawcett, one of the stewards at Royston Methodist Church, wants to trace the family of Mr and Mrs GW George, whose family donated the Bible to mark their diamond wedding anniversary on December 20, 1960.

Betty, 89, has lived in the village and attended the Midland Road church for 32 years but wants to find the family before the venue holds its final service on August 21.

“This Bible means a lot to me and I do not want it to go anywhere to be forgotten,” Betty told the Chronicle.
