AN ARMED forces day being planned is expected to attract a crowd of around 10,000 when it takes place for the first time this summer.

The event follows a smaller event organised at Penistone Royal British Legion Club last summer.

Former Royal Navy sailors Julian Mayston and Steve Roper were responsible for last year’s event.

Mr Mayston, from Penistone and said: “A year ago I would have said that, to put on such a show for our region would have been a pipe dream.

“I am overwhelmed by the support.”
