Barnsley have extended Adam Armstrong's loan for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old striker – who has three goals in 14 matches on loan to the Reds from Championship leaders Newcastle United – has agreed an extension to the deal which expired this week.

Armstrong missed a month with a foot injury but came off the bench in the wins over Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day and Nottingham Forest a week later.

He has not started a match since the previous game against Forest on November 25 while he has not netted in six appearances since the 2-0 win at Brentford 11 weeks ago.
