A meeting due to be held on Tuesday night regarding the future of an Athersley North working men's club was cancelled.
Members had asked for the meeting in order to discuss the future of Athersley Social WMC, on Mansfield Road, following its sudden closure under a dark financial cloud a couple of weeks ago.
A spokesman for the club's committee contacted the Chronicle and said it had been cancelled due to circumstances beyond the committee's control.
The spokesman added: "However, we have been informed by Sam Smith's Brewery that a meeting can be held at our own convenience when the club is reopened."
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
