Player of the Season Marc Roberts will continue to attract interest from rival clubs this summer, says Paul Heckingbottom.

But the head coach still hopes to retain his captain. Heckingbottom told the Chronicle: "There will be plenty of attention on Marc, but we'll have to wait to see if there are any bids. We have lost a hell of a lot players and we want to keep Marc.

"He is one of our own, being from Penistone. But everyone has their price and we need to make sure that, if we do sell him or anyone else, that money is invested back into the squad so we can find a replacement."

Roberts, who came third in last season's Player of the Season vote, finished ahead of Josh Scowen and Andy Yiadom, who won Players' Player of the Season by one vote. Roberts also won the Disabled Supporters Player of the Season while his centre-back partner Angus MacDonald took the Reds Player in the Community Award.

Ryan Kent was given Young Player of the Season while his fellow loanee Adam Armstrong's debut strike at Preston won Goal of the Season ahead of two long-rangers by the departed Conor Hourihane.
