A WOMBWELL man who served 26 years in the military has released his fourth book.

Keith Iveson, 85, of Crofts Close, worked for the Life Guards from 1952 onwards and recently released another book – this time a ‘modern Romeo and Juliet’.

He only started writing his first book at 83, but just two years later his fourth has been published with another, a children’s book, also in the pipeline – though Keith admits that he doesn’t ‘do it for the pocket’.

Keith told the Chronicle: “The new book, ‘They Met by the Moonlight’, is different to my other books as this one’s like a modern day Romeo and Juliet.

“My first book was about the army, my second about life in the 1930s and 1940s, and my last book was full of short stories – I’ve even got a children’s book coming out soon.

“I’ve always been interested in writing and lockdown made me write more definitely.”

Keith threw himself into writing after his wife of 59 years, Edna, died in 2015 – though Keith says that even as a youngster he used to write letters to the Chronicle.

“Sadly my wife died in 2015 and to recuperate I threw myself into writing from then,” he added. “I’ve always been interested in it, as a teenager I used to write letters to the Chronicle because I enjoyed doing it.

“I just do it for the love of writing.”
