ATHLETE and volunteer Keith Binney has been nominated for his work with athletics clubs across Yorkshire.
Keith, of Burnsway, Wath, has been nominated as volunteer of the year by his friend David Haywood.
He has been involved with Barnsley Athletics Club for a number of years, where he is now a track and field mentor.
"He still races in the over 60s although he's much slower now," joked David.
"I find him a remarkable person. The hours he gives to the sport amount to hundreds but it is his willingness, encouragement and commitment which set him apart from his colleagues.
"He has suffered many injuries over the years but 14 years ago he was diagnosed with testicular and lung cancer...he eventually beat that.
"No surprises there to a remarkable devotee of the sport."
