A MAN who set up a football team to help raise money for Cancer Research UK has been nominated in the Proud of Barnsley awards.

Stefan Chapman established the team Working Wonders FC which plays in the South Yorkshire Amateur Football League.

Stefan, 24, of Medina Way, Barugh Green, has been nominated by his sister Hayley Newman-Smith.

She said: "Stefan has got the passion to do it, and his team mates have helped him but I don't think he realises how much good he is doing."It's not just about the money he's raised. It's about being involved in the community as well."

The team holds fund-raising events at Barugh Green WMC and organises different events throughout the year to raise money.

Stefan's passion and success has seen him gain a place on the South Yorkshire Amateur Football League board, and secure a grant for £4,500 to build his club with coaching staff to increase the team with a second squad and an under nine girls team.
