PERFORMERS at the Real Music Centre Theatre Company don’t do things by halves.

So when Tom Jones was cast as the bald Uncle Fester in their latest show, The Addams Family, he opted to go under the clippers for authenticity.

Losing what Tom himself described as a ‘mophead’ hair style for the part, he also opted to raise some cash for charity while he was at it.

He managed to raise £150 for Macmillan online, with in-person donations yet to be counted.

Tom, 26, from Park Road, Wombwell, said: “At first I tried bald caps. But they just weren’t working. So I thought if I was going to shave my head, I might as well do it for a good cause too. I picked Macmillan as I’d seen on TV the good they do helping people.

“I did it at the theatre where we were rehearsing and it was Kylie Spink, one of the people playing Morticia, who did it. She is trained as a hairdresser.

“I’m actually really happy with how it went - I look better bald than I expected.”

The Addams Family is on at Wombwell’s Playhouse Theatre, on Park Street, from July 6. Tickets 341296 or from the Real Music Centre.
