12:35pm: Hello and welcome to the Chronicle's coverage of Barnsley's match against Bristol City from 3pm today.

12:37pm: It is a big game for both sides following the two-week international break as Bristol City arrive at Oakwell one place and one point outside the play-off places while the Reds are fourth-bottom, above the relegation zone on goal difference.

12:42pm: Barnsley could set an unwanted club record today, as a loss or a draw would mean they have not won in 12 successive home matches for the first time since the club was formed in 1887.

12:46pm: The last time the Reds won at home was almost five months ago on November 4 when Birmingham City were beaten 2-0 with goals from Tom Bradshaw and Zeki Fryers. That put Barnsley seven points clear of the relegation zone but they have only won two of their next 23 matches – the worst form in the EFL.

12:50pm: Birmingham, who are level on points with Barnsley but below them on goal difference, host mid-table Ipswich tomorrow while today sees bottom club Sunderland travel to fifth-placed Derby and second-bottom Burton Albion visit second-placed Cardiff City.

12:51pm: The first team will be hoping to do better than their under 23s team who lost 2-0 at Sheffield Wednesday this morning, with both goals coming late in the first ha.lf

13:00pm: Barnsley team (4-4-2): Davies; Yiadom, Lindsay, Jackson, Fryers; Potts, Moncur, Gardner; Isgrove, Moore, McBurnie. Subs: Walton, McCarthy, Pinnock, Mahoney, Williams, Bradshaw, Hammill

13:01pm: So Adam Davies comes back into the side after missing the last game due to his partner giving birth. Nick Townsend is injured and replaced by Jack Walton who has been recalled from his loan at Stalybridge. George Moncur, Zeki Fryers and Lloyd Isgrove replace Mamadou Thiam, Dani Pinillos and Stevie Mallan who drop out of the 18.

13:05pm: Bristol City team: Fielding; Pisano, Wright, Baker, Bryan; Brownhill, Pack, Smith, Paterson; Reid, Diedhiou. Subs: Steele, Walsh, Djuric, Kelly, Hegeler, Diony, Kent

13:05pm: Head coach Jose Morais has said in his programme notes: “What we want to give to the fans is the ambition and confidence that we are capable of doing the necessary to make this afternoon a happy afternoon. I want you to all go home happy, so do the players and so do the staff.”

13:07pm: Star striker Oliver McBurnie, who has six goals in nine games, returned to Oakwell yesterday from international duty with Scotland, having started on his debut against Costa Rica on Friday then come on for six minutes in Hungary on Tuesday.

13:12pm: Wales duo Ryan Hedges and Tom Bradshaw also got back at Oakwell yesterday, after 11,500-mile round trip to Nanning to play in the China Cup where they each made one substitute appearance. Barnsley’s top-scorer Bradshaw is on the bench but Hedges is left out of the squad for the third game in a row.

13:14pm: The big news is of course that Adam Hammill is back on the bench after being left out of Jose Morais' last six squads. Right-back Jason McCarthy is also back on the bench as is Ethan Pinnock

13:18pm: The last 11 Oakwell matches have brought just five points and five goals for the Reds with the most recent game, a 2-0 loss to Millwall before the international break, drawing them level with the club record set in both 1952/53 and 2012/13. Since January 2017, Barnsley have won just three of 28 home matches.

13:21pm: In January 2013, the Reds avoided a 12th successive winless home game by beating a side managed by an ex-Red in Neil Warnock's Leeds United 2-0 with a brace from Chris Dagnall. Now they will look to do the same against another former Red in Lee Johnson's Bristol City.

13:22pm: Johnson, 36, was in charge of 51 Barnsley games in just less than a year from February 2015 to the same month in 2016 when he left for former club Bristol City.

13:25pm: Johnson had taken Barnsley to and off the bottom of League One in late 2015, and lost eight successive league games, but won his last six league matches and reached the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final which he attended as a guest of then owner Patrick Cryne.

13:28pm: Ahead of today's match, Johnson said of his Barnsley spell: "I had good times there and difficult times. It looked a bit scary a couple of times but we had a very successful season there. It's very difficult to read what they are doing. It's always a difficult place to go because of the environment that's created there."

13:29pm: In his first full season at Ashton Gate last season, Johnson fought a long relegation battle but eventually kept the Robins in the division by three points thanks partly to a 3-2 April win against Barnsley in which the Reds led twice through Alex Mowatt and George Moncur.

13:33pm: Bristol started this season with another home success over the Reds, this time 3-1 as City scored three goals between 16 and 30 minutes before Ryan Hedges pulled one back in injury-time.

13:34pm: That started a good season for the Robins who reached the League Cup semi-final, after beating Manchester United, and were in the second automatic promotion place on Boxing Day – nine points clear of the teams outside the top six.

13:35pm: But their form has fallen away in 2018, with just three wins in 17 matches in all competitions. Although there are signs of recovery as two of those victories have come in the last four games.

13:38pm: Bristol's away form has been particularly poor of late as – since a December win at Sheffield United – they are winless in seven on the road having previously been unbeaten in ten on their travels with six victories and four draws.

13:43pm: Johnson has managed to keep a settled team all season with eight players having played at least 34 of their 38 games and ten playing at least 28.

13:43pm: As well as their head coach, Bristol have several players who will be familiar to Reds fans in Josh Brownhill, Ryan Kent, Korey Smith and Luke Steele.

13:44pm: Midfielder Brownhill – brought to Oakwell by Johnson and then part of the Barnsley team which won promotion in 2016 before joining Bristol two days later – has been nearly ever-present this season with four goals and five assists in 37 Championship appearances.

13:44pm: Brownhill, then on loan from Preston North End, played 27 games for the Reds, scoring three goals including a spectacular free-kick on the final day of the season at Wigan then another goal in the play-off semi-finals against Walsall.

13:45pm: Liverpool winger Kent – who spent last season on loan at Oakwell – returned to English football with Bristol City in January after a loan to German club Freiburg earlier this season.

13:48pm: Kent – who scored three goals in 47 games for the Reds –  has started just five games for the Robins so far with three substitute appearances while he has stayed on the bench for the last two fixtures.

13:48pm: Korey Smith, who played 12 games for the Reds on loan from Norwich City in 2012, is a regular in the Robins midfield  while his former Oakwell team-mate Luke Steele is the back-up goalkeeper.

13:49pm: Steele played 227 games for Barnsley between 2008, when he starred in the run to the FA Cup semi-final, and 2014 when he was part of the team which was relegated from the Championship.

13:51pm: He spoke to the Chronicle this week ahead of his first return to Oakwell since moving to Greek giants Panathinaikos. He said: ""I'm not expecting fireworks or a parade of cheerleaders or anything like that. But I will certainly give the fans a big clap and show my respect for them."

13:52pm: Steele added: "It's a club I love and it is literally the first result I look for. I have kept an eye on their results every week since I left and I was really happy when they won those two Wembley finals and got back to the Championship."

13:52pm: The last time Barnsley played the Robins on Good Friday, the Reds won 7-1 in 1913. That could be a good omen for the Oakwell and also for their striker Kieffer Moore as the man who opened the scoring for Barnsley that day was his namesake Jimmy Moore.

13:53pm: More recently, the last 14 meetings between the clubs since 2009 have brought 62 goals while the most recent six have seen three draws and three wins for the Robins.

13:53pm: The last time Barnsley beat or kept a clean sheet against City was on September 1 2012 when Jacob Mellis' header secured the points despite Bobby Hassell – now the academy manager – being sent off on 52 minutes.  That was the last game before the club record 11-match winless run home which the current Reds side have equalled.

13:53pm: The following two games between the sides at Oakwell have seen October 2-2 draws in both 2014 and last season.

13:54pm: In the last meeting in Barnsley, Marley Watkins – who Johnson tried to sign for the Robins this year  – put the Reds 1-0 ahead then Sam Winnall saw his penalty saved by Frank Fielding after he was fouled by ex-Red Scott Golbourne.  Adam Jackson then gave away a penalty for handball which Lee Tomlin scored then Tammy Abraham made it 2-1 to the visitors. Adam Hammill – who almost joined Johnson in Bristol the previous summer – scored a last-minute leveller which is his most recent Championship goal 17 months later.

13:54pm: Bristol's dangerman this time is likely to be striker Bobby Reid who is the top-scorer in the Championship this season with 17 goals, alongside Derby County's Matej Vydra. The 25-year-old had only scored seven league goals for the club before this season but has lit up the division, most recently with a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

13:55pm: Reid also scored twice against Barnsley on the opening day of the season. The other scorer that day – £5.3million club record signing Famara Diedhiou – has 11 goals this season.

13:55pm: Aden Flint - Bristol's giant, free-scoring centre-back – is suspended today as he serves the third match of a three-game ban. Left-back Joe Bryan, who scored a late equaliser at Ashton Gate when Johnson went there as Barnsley boss in March 2015, returns from suspension today.

13:56pm: There have been reports this week of dressing room disharmony at Oakwell, suggesting the players held their own tactics meetings and expressed discontent at head coach Jose Morais, who has won one in seven since taking over last month and none of his last five.

13:56pm: Morais admitted the meeting took place but said: "I am very happy that they are having these meetings because it means that they care. Probably it wasn't really discussing tactics. We all have meetings. I also have meetings without them knowing."

13:57pm: Asked if he felt the players were 100 per cent in support of him, Morais told the Chronicle: "I don't know if I should care about the players supporting me, they just need to understand what we are doing and the reason why we want to do things. It's not about me or any one player, it's about the club and the fans."

13:57pm: About today's game and his side's terrible home run, Morais said: "I believe that my players go out to home games with the intention to win and that they have the quality to win. I just want them to have the same belief as me. Bristol City is a good team, and we are a good team as well and we are a better team today than we were before."

13:58pm: Andy Yiadom has just led the Reds onto the pitch and the match is about to kick off

14:00pm: THE GAME IS UNDERWAY

14:02pm: 1 Adam Jackson down after an aerial battle with Famara Diedhiou. But the centre-back gets up after a painful knock

14:02pm: 3The corner is taken short and Reds fans cheer when Reid's back heel is to no one and cleared

14:05pm: 4 A cagey start as you would expect. The Robins the slightly brighter team so far

14:06pm: Bailey Wright

14:06pm: 5 Kieffer Moore went clean through on and was take down by the visiting captain. The home fans are desperate for a red card as Wright was the last man

14:07pm: It's been a big week in sport for Australians being punished for foul play, but Barnsley will argue Aussie Wright was not punished enough

14:07pm: Kieffer Moore

14:09pm: The huge striker heads in a left-wing corner by Moncur and Oakwell goes wild

14:11pm: 10 Barnsley are looking to extend their lead and Isgrove's diving header from a Potts cross is well wide as he is under pressure from markers

14:11pm: The last time these clubs met on Good Friday, in 1913, a man called Moore (Jimmy) opened the scoring and Barnsley won 7-1.

14:13pm: That was such a massive goal for Barnsley, now they need to push home their advantage. They are looking the better team at the moment

14:14pm: 13 Another cross from the right by the lively Potts, and this low one is back heeled behind by Nathan Baker

14:14pm: 14 Moncur's corner finds the head of his former Patrick Thistle team-mate Lindsay but he heads it out of the area and the Reds cannot get it back in

14:16pm: Lee Johnson is out on the sidelines, presumably not happy with what has happened so far, whereas Jose Morais is sitting in the dugout as usual

14:17pm: Barnsley just seem lively and more alert at the moment, they are really harrying their high-flying visitors who probably weren't expecting such tough start

14:18pm: 17 Moore has a chance to make it 2-0 as McBurnie wins the ball in the Robins half and plays him through but the weak shot is straight at goalkeeper Frank Fielding who saves easily

14:20pm: 19 Gardner – still seeking his first goal for the Reds – is encouraged to shoot by the crowd by balloons a 25-yard effort well over the bar

14:21pm: 20 Bristol's Joe Bryan has a 25-yard shot which is weak and well wide of the left post

14:22pm: 22 George Moncur's left-wing free-kick is cleared by Bryan

14:24pm: 23 A free-kick is given against Moore after tussling in the box with Bailey Wright. Moore thinks it's harsh and the home fans seem to think it should be a penalty

14:26pm: A bit of scrappy period of player on the right just outside Barnsley's box ends with Gardner being fouled and a free-kick to the home side

14:28pm: We're approaching the half hour mark here and Barnsley deservedly lead through Kieffer Moore's goal, while Bristol should arguably be down to ten men after Bailey Wright appeared to bring Moore down just outside the box when clean through

14:30pm: 30 Bristol's best chance so far as ex Red Josh Brownhill brilliantly jinks past two in the box but Adam Jackson blocks

14:31pm: 31 Barnsley then clear the corner and hang onto their lead

14:31pm: GOAL: Famara Diedhiou

14:31pm: A brilliant strike into the top left corner from the left side of the box on 31 minutes

14:33pm: It was a good cross field ball by Pack which Barnsley just did not seem ready for and Diedhiou had plenty of space to pick his spot

14:33pm: He is a Senegal international and Bristol's club record signing at £5.3million. That's the quality which that kind of money buys

14:34pm: It's a bit harsh on Barnsley who had been the better team. but Bristol had just shown some signs of the kind of football they can play

14:36pm: Jose Morais ventures out of his technical area for a rare chat with one of his players. He will be frustrated that the visitors have been let back into the game

14:38pm: 37 Kieffer Moore wins a header in the Bristol box, eventually works out where the ball is and pulls it back to Moncur who tries a chipped effort from the edge of the box but it sails over

14:38pm: Moore and Moncur have been by far the most threatening players so far for the home side

14:40pm: 40 Isgrove has to concede a corner and the visitors are looking to lead at the break

14:41pm: 40 Marlon Pack takes the corner and the referee gives Barnsley a free-kick after a big scramble

14:42pm: Bristol are just starting to have a worrying amount of space on the wings, with Bryan whipping in a cross which Jackson misses and Davies catches

14:44pm: 43 Lloyd Isgrove bursts forward then passes on to Brad Potts whose low cross is blocked behind for a corner

14:44pm: 43 George Moncur and Lloyd Isgrove try a short corner but it goes behind for another

14:45pm: 45 The corner just misses Moore who again was tussling with a defender, then Potts' bobbling 20-yard effort trickles wide

14:46pm: 45 Good chance for McBurnie as Moore heads Yiadom's cross straight to him but he nods it into Fielding's arms

14:46pm: That was a very good chance in fact, especially for a striker who has six in nine and just made his international debut

14:47pm: 45+1 Another effort from Moore, this time he blazes over from 25 yards out. Barnsley have weathered a short storm for the visitors and finished the half as they started it – very well

14:48pm: HALF-TIME: Barnsley 1, Bristol City 1

15:00pm: Great celebration picture here after Kieffer Moore put the Reds ahead

15:00pm: Moore nodded in a Moncur corner for his third Barnsley goal

15:04pm: THE SECOND HALF IS UNDERWAY

15:07pm: 47 A decent City move leads to Brownhill's cross almost being turned in by Eros Pisano at the back post but the Italian right-back could not quite reach it

15:08pm: 48 So close! Barnsley fans are convinced they have scored a Brad Potts connects with a right-wing cross a few yards out but the ball trickles towards goal and Frank Fielding saves on the line. Potts barely got anything on it

15:09pm: It was a fantastic cross by Moncur whose delivery has been impressive today. It deserved to be an assist and that might cost Barnsley

15:10pm: 51 Andy Yiadom cuts in from the left and shoots high and wide from 25 yards. He has still never scored for the Reds

15:13pm: Bristol are playing some decent football but yet to really carve their hosts open. It's an interesting and even match

15:14pm: 55 Lindsay gives the ball away with a really poor pass in his half but he is the one to clear in his box after the Bristol move ends in a cross from the left wing

15:15pm: Jamie Paterson was down injured right in front of the away fans. Now he has limped to the sidelines

15:15pm: Paterson is back on and it's 11 v 11 again

15:17pm: 58 Lindsay does really well to get in before Reid and divert a low cross behind for a corner

15:18pm: 59 Another great chance for Moore as he brings a long ball down on his chest but Fielding saves one on one going down low to his left

15:19pm: 59 Kieffer Moore could have had a hat-trick. This time he heads straight at Fielding after a Moncur corner finds him unmarked in the middle of the box

15:20pm: The home fans are in very good voice here, chanting the names of Moore and McBurnie

15:20pm: Lloyd Isgrove

15:20pm: Adam Hammill

15:20pm: George Moncur

15:20pm: Joe Williams

15:21pm: A slightly surprising substitution since Moncur has been excellent today and Joe Williams is much more defensive

15:21pm: 62 Bryan's left-footed shoot from 25 yards whistles over the bar

15:22pm: The other substitution will please the home fans as Hammill gets his first action since Morais' first match in charge

15:24pm: Jamie Paterson

15:24pm: Ryan Kent, who gets a mixed reception from the home fans

15:25pm: So far this is a big contender for the best performance under Morais, certainly at Oakwell, but they need to turn that into a win

15:27pm: 67 Gardner bursts in from the left wing and exchanges passes with McBurnie before chipping a 15-yard shot wide of the right-hand post

15:28pm: 69 A good move sees Brownhill's cross headed wide by Pisano

15:30pm: 71 McBurnie skips past a defender on the left wing but his shot from the left is blocked then Fryers' follow-up is over the bar

15:33pm: Just over 15 minutes left here. Will Barnsley go all out for the win?

15:35pm: Marlon Pack

15:35pm: Milan Djuric

15:37pm: Brad Potts

15:39pm: Kieffer Moore runs down the left onto a good pass from Joe Williams and pulls the ball back for Potts who is six yards out and supplies an excellent finish

15:40pm: That could be a huge goal for the Reds in their battle against the drop this season

15:41pm: Lee Johnson encroaches into the Barnsley technical area and gets chased out by the normally calm physio Craig Sedgewick

15:45pm: Five minutes to go and Barnsley are trying to hang on to what would be their first home win in 11 matches

15:46pm: Looks like Jason McCarthy is coming on for the first time under Morais

15:46pm: Kieffer Moore is injured and walking off

15:47pm: Jason McCarthy

15:47pm: Kieffer Moore

15:50pm: Josh Brownhill

15:51pm: 90+2 Potts has a half-chance to to win it but fires over from the right side of the box

15:52pm: The goal was a looping header from a left-wing cross which went over Adam Davies

15:53pm: Now it looks as though the Reds will set a club record for 12 winless home games in a row. But the overall performance should give them hope of survival

15:55pm: Barnsley have a corner in the 96th minute

15:56pm: FULL-TIME: Barnsley 2, Bristol City 2
