BARNSLEY will be one of the host destinations for the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire race.
The start and finish locations for next year's event, due to take place between Thursday, May 3 and Sunday, May 6, were revealed this morning.
Next year will be the fourth outing for the racing spectacle, which was set up following the success of the Tour de France which came to Yorkshire in 2014.
Tour de Yorkshire will expand from three to four days meaning there will be eight start and finish destinations for the 2018 race - and Barnsley is one of those.
The full 2018 race route will be unveiled in December.
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
