A TEAM of Barnsley divers played a key role alongside the RNLI in the rescue of a woman who had fallen overboard a yacht off Flamborough Head on Sunday.

They were diving on their RIB (rigid inflatable boat) on Sunday afternoon when they responded to a mayday call, of a woman fallen overboard from a yacht nearby.

The crew, Paul Tarn, 50, from Hood Green Lane, Hood Green; Keith Bird, from Darfield, Barnsley College student Max Roberts, 17, from Grimethorpe, and Dave Kirkland, from Doncaster are all members of Wombwell Sub Aqua Club.

The yacht had been in a race between Bridlington and Flamborough when the lady, one of its crew of four, fell overboard.
