BARNSLEY FC fans have paid tribute to the club’s owner Patrick Cryne who revealed he is terminally ill this week.

The millionaire businessman, 66, announced in November he was reducing his involvement in the club after being diagnosed with cancer.

Scores of fans expressed their sadness on Facebook and Twitter. Matt Bailey Tweeted: “I don’t do prayers, but I’m rooting for Patrick Cryne. Football is insignificant compared with that evil disease.”

Head coach Paul Heckingbottom said the news has strengthened his desire to be successful for Patrick.
