BARNSLEY football fans are being thanked for their generosity at a recent home game when they threw their cash into Marie Curie fundraising buckets.

The fans at Oakwell donated £444.85 at the match against Brighton on February 18.

Keith Stuart-Clarke, chairman of the Barnsley branch of Marie Curie fundraising group, said the money will pay for 22 hours of nursing care by Marie Curie nurses, to local people who are living with terminal illnesses.

“Although Marie Curie is a national charity, every penny raised is always used locally for the benefit, of people living in Barnsley where it is raised,” he said.
