BARNSLEY FC chaplain Peter Amos scaled the heights last weekend when he completed the national Three Peaks challenge.

Peter, 70, climbed the highest peaks in Scotland, Wales and England for an astonishing fourth time to raise money for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME).

Peter, a Reds in the Community trustee, has been a sufferer of ME for the past five years.

He said: “I attempted the Three Peaks for the fourth time to help raise money for research and to be a living example of what can be for those who are debilitated by this dreadful illness.

“In my 70th year, to be able to complete the national Three Peaks at all is an enormous privilege and the enjoyment was optimal.

“However, it was nothing compared to the feat of my two companions who completed six peaks in 72 hours. I was blown away by their strength, determination and endurance.”
