Lady Gaga could well be strolling around in latex underwear cut by Barugh Green laser firm Cutting Technologies.
The company has transferred its skills to laser cutting latex and moved into the glamorous world of high-end latex fashion and fetish wear design.
Its work has been on display at Paris Couture Fashion Week in the collections of Charlie Le Mindu, milliner to the stars.
He collaborated with exclusive latex fashion designer Atusko Kudo for the show, which combined pieces using real human hair and luxurious gold leather, silk and couture latex.
Cutting Technologies used its specialist skills to produce delicately patterned latex in the lingerie made by Atsuko Kudo. This pioneering latex fashion designer has dressed celebrities like Lady Gaga and developed a pop-up shop in London's Selfridges.
Jane Robinson, co-founder and director at Cutting Technologies, said the firm originally developed its latex technique when meeting an order for laser cut neoprene rubber sheets for an electronics company.
"Latex is a notoriously tricky substance for laser cutting," she said. "The heat of the lasers returns the latex to its natural wet state – so we had to experiment with various solvents and applications.
"Through trial and error we eventually mastered the art. Whilst laser cutting has been used on latex before, it's only been on small pieces for applique–type effects.
"Being able to laser cut using our large bed 3m x 2m machine meant we could look at laser cutting latex on a large scale."
