A BARNSLEY man is paying a special tribute to his footballer dad.

Martin Beaumount is honouring Frank by cycling and running 450 miles to mark 45 years since Macclesfield Town, where his dad was player/manager, beat Telford Utd in the first ever FA Trophy final at Wembley.

Frank Beaumount was a professional footballer, playing for Barnsley, Bury, Stockport County and Macclesfield Town. He died in 2011 at Barnsley Hospice following a long battle with cancer.

Martin, from Byrne Close, Barugh Green, wants to ensure his dad is not forgotten and will be reliving the route Macclesfield Town took to Wembley by visiting every team's ground in order that the team played on their winning route to the final.
