A BARNSLEY man who was crippled by a hit and run driver is set to run the London Marathon this year in memory of a popular local pub landlord who died from pancreatic cancer.

Dad of three Kevin Goulding was left for dead unconscious in the road in the dark in Dodworth Road, Barnsley, in November 2009.

His severe injuries left him needing several operations and metal pins and plates inserting in his lower left leg. He also had to undergo therapy for post traumatic stress, and he suffered from nightmares and low self-esteem.

But since the accident, he has rebuilt himself and gone on to complete two London Marathons, six half marathons, and several 10km races.

This year Kevin, 41, from Yews Lane, Bank End, will again take part in the London Marathon, raising money this time for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
