BARNSLEY MP Dan Jarvis will meet with the Home Office to discuss when and how they government's blanket ban on legal highs will come into force.

Mr Jarvis has long campaigned against the sale of 'psychoactive substances' and the ban came as a result of a review ordered by the Home Office.

He has now secured a meeting with Home Office minister Lynne Featherstone to discuss the finer details of how the ban will work.

Mr Jarvis said: "I will be going to the Home Office to raise specific concerns I have about the impact of legal highs. The government agreed to a ban, it just hasn't done it yet.

"I will be meeting with Ms Featherstone to discuss when the ban is going to happen and question other government departments about how this can be done.

"I don't know how it's going to be done and that's the purpose of this meeting - the government has not given any detail. I accept it is not the easiest thing to do but we need to know how it will work in practice."
