EVERY day Barnsley town centre is changing for ever and an imposing part of the skyline is about to disappear.

This week a giant crane started the demolition of the TEC building.

It was built in 1974 to house the headquarters of the now defunct South Yorkshire Country Council, and has been one of the town’s most prominent buildings ever since.

As the £130m Glass Works project in the town centre speeds up, the physical appearance of once familiar vistas all over the town centre are changing.

As some buildings disappear, others will soon appear - the new £5.3m library and community space is due to open next year.
