A TEENAGE musician who was temporarily forced to stop playing instruments because of multiple sclerosis will perform in front of hundreds of people hoping to make the final of a nationwide talent show.
Cat Fraser, of Windermere Road, Penistone, plans to sing self-penned song 'Blind Class' at the regional finals of TeenStar - an X Factor style competition for teenagers.
The 17-year-old student, who will pick up her guitar for the live performance at Sheffield City Hall on Sunday, was unable to play instruments properly for three months due to numbness in her right hand before being treated for MS.
"It's rare for people my age to get this kind of thing, really uncommon but not unheard of," she said. "I went away with my family and it was like a complete personality change.
"The diagnosis didn't really change anything for me, I knew the symptoms I had, it was just putting a name to what I already knew."
Cat, an A Level pupil at Greenhead College in Huddersfield who also performs as part of five-piece folk group Folkus, suffers headaches and tiredness because of the neurological condition.
"Last time it was just to a panel of four judges," she added. "This time it's on the big stage, with a big audience. "It's going to be quite intimidating for me because I'm used to having the band there."
