IT'S Barnsley-based and full of Barnsley humour and colloquialisms, but that didn't stop a group of students in America buying the rights to perform Chrissy Barker's debut play.

Chrissy, 53, of Newington Avenue, Cudworth, penned 'Old Pete' following the death of her father Pete Ward, 82, from cancer six years ago.

She said: "My father was a bit of a character and came out with really funny things. When he was in hospital, I started to write down all the funny things he did or said and it just snowballed.

"It's a comedy, as there can be an element of humour even in death, and is Barnsley-based and written for Yorkshire people to understand."
