THEY tested and tasted their way through almost 12,000 glasses of real ale and had a really good time at the Barnsley CAMRA Elsecar beer festival.

Around 2,000 guests enjoyed the historic setting of the Elsecar Heritage Centre and drinkers of all ages and sizes and tastes enjoyed a tipple or two.

Family members too young for a taste of the strong stuff enjoyed the many other attractions on offer.

But for the seriously keen drinkers it was the vast range of real ales, ciders and world beers that captured their imaginations and attention.
